Recap: At the End of Slavery Screening – Jan. 18th

Thank you to all who came out to our January 18th screening of At the End of Slavery at the Oak Park Public Library! We considered it a great success as it was wonderful to see over 70 people come out and learn about the movement to combat human trafficking, forced labor and other types of slavery around the world.

Thanks to everyone who signed cards, took home letters to send to their Congressmen and to those who took home a “Party in a Box” so they could host their own At the End of Slavery screening. Below are some photos from this event.

The Local Abolitionists will be meeting in February to discuss our plans for the upcoming year. If you have any suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you again for your passion and support for this important cause.

Hello Local Abolitionists!

It’s been a while since our first event in November where we screened the film “At the End of Slavery” in the Oak Park Conservatory. Here is what is going on in early 2010 and how you can help us in this important cause.

We’re asking you to join us, to spread the word, and to bring your friends, neighbors, and folks from your church or community groups.

2. We are on Facebook. Who Are We?

Welcome to LocalAbolitionists.org. We are a group of people in Oak Park and the surrounding communities who desire to fight for the cause of justice. Specifically, we feel led to expose the horror of Human Sex Trafficking, Forced Labor and other types of Slavery around the world.

We’re not sure what Local Abolitionists will be in the future, but for now we’re hoping it helps rally our community around this issue.

Our second effort will take place on January 18th, at the Oak Park Public Library. We will be showing a special screening of a film by the International Justice Mission called “At the End of Slavery“. Please browse this site, learn more about this film and it’s cause, and then join us on January 18th by RSVPing today.

And of course, we hope you will pass this information on to others in our community as well (you can start by posting this on Facebook or Twitter using the badges to the right).

More to come,

The Local Abolitionists (localabolitionists@gmail.com)
